Scott Bollens is UCI Professor of Urban Planning and the Warmington Chair in Peace and International Cooperation. He studies the intersection of cities and nationalistic conflict and has interviewed more than 240 individuals in the cities of Beirut, Jerusalem, Belfast, Johannesburg, Nicosia, Sarajevo and Mostar (Bosnia), and Basque Country and Barcelona (Spain).
He is author of the new book, City and Soul in Divided Societies (London and New York: Routledge, 2012), and has previously written Cities, Nationalism, and Democratization (2007), On Narrow Ground (2000), and Urban Peace-Building in Divided Societies (1999).
